The Sagrario Church began to be built in the year 1705, designed by Francisco Hurtado Izquierdo. It is attached to the Cathedral, the Royal Chapel and the Lonja.
The plan of the chapel draws a Greek cross on a square, with some Roman influence. The crossing arms have spherical and groined vaults and the crossing cupola has eight circular windows that cast light accentuating the volume of the vault decoration, made using plasterworks with geometric figures, plants and rock gardens. It is supported on pilasters with attached Corinthian columns.
It is decorated with interesting altarpieces, canvas and sculptures belonging to the Baroque Granada School. The Sagrario (Tabernacle) was designed by Jose de Bada between 1745 and 1755 and is made of colored marble and crowned by the allegorical figure of Faith. The church has a crypt under the altar of the Sagrario (Tabernacle), which is accessed through the Door of the Spirits (Puerta de las Animas).
The Façade
The facade is influenced by Alonso de Cano. It is performed in grey marble and comprises two main bodies: the access door is a rounded arch flanked by Corinthian columns resting on a high plinth. The second body is smaller with three niches flanked by columns supporting triangular pediments. On them, the sculptures of Saint Peter, Saint John Nepomuceno and Saint Ibon are located. The façade ends in a curved pediment with a cornice decorated with corbels interspersed with rosettes.
The tower is small without bells and is located on the right side of the façade.
